Hi my name is Kat and I'm new to the world of blogging.
Recently I have watched the newest episode of Legend of Korra, and with my family and friends all tragically behind on their AtLA history, none of them will watch it with me until they have caught up.
That leaves me, full of the new information season 2 has given me, and no one to talk to about it.  so fan girls and boys of the interwebs, I humbly ask you, if you have any new theories on what's going to happen in the next 3 seasons, interesting-or not so interesting- comments on any given episode, amazing fanfiction ideas, or if you know about amazing fanfictions that that everyone should read go ahead and tell me about it!

so with that in mind, here are some theories of my own;

Unalaq (http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Unalaq) is evil!
No no! please don't roll your eyes and click out! let me explain.

Unalaqs  check list of evil!
-Convince Korra that the spirits are angry, and will destroy her home land if peace isn't made with them
-Show Korra that he has the power to control spirits, (but refuse to teach her how if you didn't catch that in the show)
-Convince Korra that she needs him as a spirit teacher so she can become a fully realized avatar and make peace with the spirits
-Get anyone who he has no control over away from Korra(her dad, Tenzin etc..)
-Make Korra distrust anyone he cant control, all well convincing her that the only way she can choose her own path is to stay with him
-Get Korra to open the spirit portal, releasing an army of indestructible beast that only he can control
-Call his battleships from the north
-Control the spirits with his powers and have his own spirit army
-Add his own forces from the north to make his army stronger
-Control Korra completely and have her lead the army
-Gain power of the rest of the worlds armies, by killing all who refuse to join him
-Effectively become the new main bad guy and dictator of the world (aka, the 'spirit lord')

Also I would like to add that he probably summoned the spirit that attacked Korra at the camp.
one of the reasons I support this theory is because we have 3 books to go in legend of Korra and no main bad guy to fight, plus before the show came out, anything you could find on the internet about Unalaq was colored with a certain 'he's a bad guy' tone. So going into the show I was naturally suspicious, and I studied everything he did. He started out fine enough, however his downer one-track-mind speech at what should have been a happy fun event was kinda shmuckish and rude. Then I watched him with dismay, as with a few words he was able to manipulate Korra into choosing him over Tenzin, and he did it by using her own rebellious nature against her. then he brought Korra on an adventure, failing to mention any details about what was going to happen giving her no time to think about the ways he was tricking her.
but there was a problem in his plan, his brother (Korras dad) tagged along with them, because he didn't trust Unalaq (and rightly so). so next, I watched with horror,(and admitted admiration) as Unalaq got Korra to send her father away with a not needed backstory explaining that the reason Korra lived in the south pole and not the north was due to her fathers banishment over destroying a spiritual place in the north. then he went on to say that the reason the south was now spiritually unbalanced is because Korras father was living there. But that's a big hole in his story isn't it? Korras father had been living there for 17+ years and this had never happened before. not to mention, that earlier ON THE SAME DAY INFACT he claimed that the reason the spirits were rising was because the people of the southern water tribe had let go of the old ways. so which is it? and if its the later wouldn't places that are much more industualized like republic city be the places that are getting attacked? I mean there's roads and cars, and electricity there! most places in the south are still being lit by burning lamps! grrr. well regardless of the holes in his story, hearing the truth about her father evoked 2 responses 1)Korra distrusting her dad for never telling her the truth, 2) Korra sending her dad away, leaving her in the hands of Unalaq.
Glob, this cant end well.
next Unalaq set Korra off to open the spirit world portal. (knowing full well she could die in there) of coarse he explained the plan really quickly and shooed her off before she could question his motives, promising the whole time that it would make the world better and the spirits calmer, claiming that only an avatar could open the portal. There were these weird snake spirits guarding the portal, which she then shot fire at. (not making the spirits any calmer btw) when she opened the portal and came back Unalaq acted so happy, hugging her and saying she did good.
but...what did she do exactly? well the portals open, which I guess is good, cuz Unalaq said so. but what's the point? here's how I see it; now that the portal is open to the spirit world, spirits can come out...spirits that only Unalaq can control. spirits that, as we saw in the beginning, can sink whole ships in a matter of seconds. oops.
now at this point in the show I was pretty sure that Unalaq was a bad guy, but a scene near the end confirmed it. big metal battle ships sailing into the south pole. Unalaq said they were his reinforcements from the north. that they were there to help restore balance and peace. but the nostalgic fan girl in me remembers the last time battleships sailed to the south. I'm sure I don't have to remind you.

so there you have it
I looked through my theory and fond really only one thing wrong with it (but if you see anything else please tell me) and that would be this;
Q: If Unalaq is the one who has been summoning spirits to attack, why did the random ship get attacked by one in the beginning? Wouldn't that mean the spirits are angry?
A: I've been pondering that myself, here's why I think that happened, when we first meant Unalaq where was he? Disembarking a ship at the festival in the southern water tribe. the boat was attacked in southern waters the night before the festival (Unalaq said so himself) on that night, he was traveling around the same place. also when he meant up with Korra, he told her about the attack on the ship, and used it as a reason for helping him restore balance. but wait! if he had been traveling from the north to the south poles the night before, how was he informed about the attack so quickly? Because HE launched the attack! Not only does he have the avatar scared and believing that the spirits are angry, but the families of the people who died on the ship.

So tell me what you think about my theory, I'm always open for change if you want to add on or disprove it, please do. I really want to hear what the fans think.

Now on to some of the smaller points of the one hour premiere. I really liked the beam of blue light shooting into the sky when Korra opened the portal. what better way to start an Avatar 3 season masterpiece?!? In the south pole with a beam of blue light. (nostalgic fan girl side appeased)
I really think for this season my ships are as fallows; Makorra, BolinXAsami ,and Tenzin and Pema
though I'd be open to change on everything but Makorra which is one of my favorite ships (next to kataraang, percabeth, harmony and bubbline.)
I also really like the characters  Desna and Eska  and I'm interested to see more of them.
I don't really know when this turned into a review, but all in all it was a great episode:)
please tell me what you think.
XOXO -Kat
